I adore this gal, Carrie Bloomston! She is true to herself and others. Her work brings me feelings of hope and the desire to create. She is make to me. I had been awaiting her next endeavor and when she announced her fabric was ready to be worked with I jumped at the chance to create. I fell in love with everything in the Windam cookbook and here are just a few of my favorites:
Rachel Gander
Sally Keller
Karen LePage
Of course a little Ethereal Love:
I was excited to have a little leftovers after I sewed the dress to share with a few students in my after school sewing classes.
L made and adorable Tank top using the "Tiny Pocket Tank" by Grainline Studio

And a coordinating camping zip bag using a "See Kate Sew" tutorial.

What can I say about Ms. Bloomston (SUCH DESIGNS) except she is one of the most "real" people I have had the privilege to know and we've never even met in person! I don't think you always have to "know" an artist to get to know them. That's what I love about an artist you can just feel them through their work. I first fell for Carrie's work when I saw this pattern cover:
Then of course I fell in love with her Giggle n Squeak quilt because all the girls in my sewing classes were going crazy over
it so I taught a class (aren't they awesome!).
When I found out she was releasing a fabric line I couldn't stand the wait and emailed her! The fabric addict in me HAD TO HAVE IT as soon as possible. The line does not disappoint. I'm not one to suggest quilters cotton for garments but with some patterns it's absolutely fine to use especially if it's Carrie's line. It has good drape and the hand is dreamy soft. What a privilege it was to work with. This line has something extra special...it has heart. It's not just some more gorgeous flowers or pretty stripe, it speaks to you. When she said I could choose which print to use I knew I wanted to use some of the newsprint because I wanted to read it all. :) She titled her line "Collage" and I find it very fitting. When her fabric arrived it spoke out one word "Scirocco" and so I went to work.
She is one gorgeous girl!
Thank you Carrie for the honor of being one of the first sewists to get my hands on this amazing fabric.
Lucky for one of Figgy's readers too because Carrie is giving away a super fun stack of Collage!!!
