the goddess of dawn March 20 2014, 5 Comments

One year ago I came across this post  and instantly fell in love with everything my eyes laid eyes on.  I loved the girls, the clothes and I especially fell in love with Alexia's eye for just the perfect fabric.  I go into quilters cotton overload sometimes with it's over use in garments and it was refreshing to see a talent such as Lexi using gorgeous garment fabrics. (Don't get me wrong I love a nice quilters cotton just like the rest of you but it's not meant for EVERY garment.) In September of 2013 I see this post and am blown away.  I thought to myself, this girl has some serious talent and I must get to know her and I would love to work with her.  So I went for it and asked if she'd like to work with me on a new pattern and a few months later I'm so pleased and proud to announce the newest Figgy's pattern by Alexia Sotelo.

what a week! February 15 2014, 8 Comments

What a beautiful week on the Figgy's Heavenly Tour!
Some of it was a little blurry for me because I caught a flu that led to bronchitis then pneumonia. That was fun (insert sarcasm).  Luckily I have an incredible husband and mother that took great care of me and I was able to keep up a bit by iPhone but its times like this that I yell at my inner self "Hire An Intern!".
What really kept my spirits up was seeing all the wonderful posts from these awesome creators!

Lexi Made: Celestial Pullover & Ethereal Blouse

Things for Boys: Seraphic Tee

Raeanna from Sewing Rabbit: Shredded Raglan

SALE WEEKEND!!! November 16 2013, 2 Comments

I'm so pleased to announce the new winter line is now available and what's even better……it's a sale weekend too!  With every release we like to show our appreciation for all of your support of Independent designers by offering our patterns for sale.  This weekend beginning Saturday, November 16th and ending Monday, November 18th all digital patterns are 20% off!  You will also notice a few of the patterns still have paper versions available and those are on sale as well. I have decided to wait to release paper versions of the new patterns for now but that doesn't mean I won't have them available in the future. I'm just getting back into the swing of things and have not made a final decision about running a paper version.  As soon as I know you'll know!

But wait, there's more!  For the first time ever Figgy's is releasing their very own bundle!!  The Heavenly Bundle Collection will be available for only the next two weeks.  The bundle includes all 7 patterns from the new line.  Each pattern can mix and match with one another to create a staple wardrobe for your child.  This is an amazing one time deal.  Retail priced at $70.00 this bundle will be available to you for just $39.95!  Get it while you can!!!

celestial maxi skirt November 15 2013, 0 Comments

supremely good, sublime

I'm in love with this skirt.  I love the simplicity of the handkerchief hemline, the instructions for the french seams and the exposed elastic.  This is the skirt mothers/fathers sewists dream of because it take 40 minutes to sew from cut to finish and the result is flawless and stylish.  This skirt looks great paired with the Celestial Pullover or Pleated Tee and really hip with a layered look using the Seraphic Raglan and Celestial Pullover.  Have fun playing with the hemline length to make a full, tee or knee length by just adducting the length on the pattern.  On chilly winter days just add boots and Sunki leggins!

Fabric choices for the skirt vary from cotton lawn to jersey knit.  Just make sure when you're shopping for the perfect fabric take the fabric off the bolt and check the drape.  You want a fabric that will move with the person you're sewing for so nothing too stiff or heavy.  I hope someone tries making the skirt in a lightweight small wale cord!  Let me know if you do!  Also, don't be afraid to try a 2-3" decorative elastic it can give the skirt a fun pop of color!
